A concept of the Shaman of any of the many indigenous cultures, what they stand for and what they believe in. First of all a Shaman is according the dictionary a medicine man, a seeker of truth in both physical and spiritual matters, he works for the greater good of “All That Is”. What is known by some as
Source Energy or God, mother Earth and the Universe.
The Shaman learns about the connection between humans, all other creatures and Mother Earth Herself. No species or article of creation is separate from other species or article; all of creation is connected. This is an ancient belief and law of the universe. Each creation and creature, animate or inanimate, was created to compliment and in some way aid all the others.
This concept is much easier for those with shamanistic talents to understand than the dogmatic person. The shaman has personal spirit helpers, so he/she realises that she/he is in turn a helper to nature herself. This is all part of the pattern of inter-connectedness. One warning as far as enlightenment is concerned: there are no shortcuts in achieving enlightenment.
Orthodox religions have been quite successful in spreading the belief that humans were created to rule and dominate nature and that humans are superior and more important to any other form of creation. To such believers, this is a valid excuse to refuse to see the “soul”, Spirit or life-force in
other living organisms. The Shamans’ place in all this confusion is first to re-establish his/her personal connectedness and therefore responsibility. Then silently and personally, the shaman works through: journeys, healings, readings and rituals to improve the immediate neighbourhood, the state, the nation and the world; in that order. If the neighbourhood is sick, the shaman cannot hope to have much effect on the national level. Shamans fully understand that things must first occur in the other dimensions before they can manifest on this plane of existence.
A true Shaman is not out gathering recognition and publicity for his/her actions or beliefs. She/he has no Ego based need for publicity or fame. Furthermore, the recognition would bring a flow of thrill seekers and control freaks who would be gunning for the latest fad. These insincere people would take up valuable time and energy, leaving the shaman with drained vitality and little privacy for shamanic study and journeys. Along with publicity always come roublemakers; those who believe in nothing and do not want anyone else to find a comfortable and workable belief-system.
And those fanatics who believe that it is their duty to hound and persecute anyone who believes differently than they do. And those deranged individuals who work so hard to claim the shaman’s hard work, ideas and wisdom and so steal the shaman’s energy, or try to achieve the shaman’s downfall by openly or secretively spread untruths about the shaman. The shaman will do well to avoid all these types of parasites like the plague, which in a sense they are, because their vibrational levels disrupt and destroy the vibrations of every other energy they are near.
A shaman seeks solitude away from these parasites to learn, study Nature and grows stronger in their personal bond with “All Our Relations” and The Creator. The Shaman has little trouble extending her/his view of the connectedness to include this planet. The shaman will speak of this planet as Mother Earth and it takes little or no further adjustment to include the Universe in the Divine Concept of ONENESS.
